Chilean wine giant VSPT will acquire wine brands, vineyards, and a winery from Pernod Ricard Argentina

Pernod Ricard Argentina has decided to focus its attention and resources on the production of both still and sparkling wines at its Salta and Mendoza based wineries, as well as spirits at its distillery in Buenos Aires. VSPT has referred to the deal as a “strategic acquisition to continue the development of its product portfolio”. The wine group already controls Argentine wine brands Finca La Celia and Bodega Tamarí

Los desempleados podrán formarse para ser expertos en enoturismo en Murcia

Los desempleados de la Región de Murcia podrán formarse por primera vez para convertirse en expertos en enoturismo. Así, el Servicio Regional de Empleo y Formación (SEF) ya trabaja en el proyecto pionero que establecerá la formación específica para que los participantes puedan desempeñarse profesionalmente en este campo. Algunas de las áreas que abordará esa formación serán los vinos y gastronomía de la Región, la gestión de eventos, la atención al enoturista o la creación de un producto turístico.

Three white fungus resistant hybrid grape varieties approved in Austria

Four new white grape varieties have just been approved for use in Austrian Qualitätswein (quality wine) Three of these are so-called PIWIs, which is fungal resistant crossings. PIWI is a German abbreviation for Pilzwiderstandsfähig (literally fungus resistant). The fourth grape is Goldmuskateller, a regular Vitis vinifera that also has a good resistance to rot.
